Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week New York

It's finally the time of year where creativity, personality, and fantastic fashion all under one house. Fashion week in New York has begun and the Lincoln Center is quickly filling with invited-only guests ranging from journalists, buyers, and celebrities. I attended the Max Azria fashion show where models were dressed in a simple and glamorous look. The colors were muted and the materials were soft.

Fashion Week is the place to be when you want to find eye-catching fashion trends on and off the runways. I found myself walking around the lobby with my head down for the most part because the guests' shoes were a site to be seen.

Fashionably Late Show

I'm always excited to see different fashion shows and enjoy up and coming designers. Last Thursday I went to the Liberty hotel to see the fantastic shoe designer Zack Lo. I was pleasantly surprised by some of the outfits worn at this Designs of Yellow Clover fashion show. While I most likely would not wear anything from the collection, I do appreciate new designers and their efforts to be different. The collection was evening wear and high-end couture inspired by elements such Frank Sinatra's "Luck be a Lady", a deck of cards and classic elegance.

Business Travel in style

Travel for Business With Style

Let's start with the famous saying "you never know who you might meet at anytime." This saying is very important and true because first impressions do matter and if you are looking like you live in the woods or have not slept in the past week and realize you just met the CEO of your dream job, good luck! You don't need to go crazy dressing up but please look appropriate. Here are some tips to help...

* Dress appropriately for your business appointment- find out what the dress code is where you have your meeting

* Choose attire in fabrics, such as knits and jersey that will be comfortable while traveling but will deliver you to your destination looking fresh without any wrinkles.

* Travel in comfortable shoes if you need to but this doesn't mean slippers, they should still be something you would feel comfortable wearing infront of your boss. Keep your pumps handy in your carry-on bag or your briefcase.

* Keep hair style simple, easy to manage and appropriate for your destination. In your briefcase, keep emergency hair-care items, such as curling iron, gel, hair spray and hair pins.

* Even if you don't plan to stay overnight, have on hand items you might need if your plans change, such as cosmetics, change of undergarments. For a change of clothes it's best to stick to neutral colors so you can create a variety of outfits if you mix and match. If you want to add a little spice to your outfit do it with an accessory.

* To keep your skin looking great, travel with light makeup on such as just mascara. You also should make sure to have water with you to keep hydrated.
