Business Travel in style

Travel for Business With Style

Let's start with the famous saying "you never know who you might meet at anytime." This saying is very important and true because first impressions do matter and if you are looking like you live in the woods or have not slept in the past week and realize you just met the CEO of your dream job, good luck! You don't need to go crazy dressing up but please look appropriate. Here are some tips to help...

* Dress appropriately for your business appointment- find out what the dress code is where you have your meeting

* Choose attire in fabrics, such as knits and jersey that will be comfortable while traveling but will deliver you to your destination looking fresh without any wrinkles.

* Travel in comfortable shoes if you need to but this doesn't mean slippers, they should still be something you would feel comfortable wearing infront of your boss. Keep your pumps handy in your carry-on bag or your briefcase.

* Keep hair style simple, easy to manage and appropriate for your destination. In your briefcase, keep emergency hair-care items, such as curling iron, gel, hair spray and hair pins.

* Even if you don't plan to stay overnight, have on hand items you might need if your plans change, such as cosmetics, change of undergarments. For a change of clothes it's best to stick to neutral colors so you can create a variety of outfits if you mix and match. If you want to add a little spice to your outfit do it with an accessory.

* To keep your skin looking great, travel with light makeup on such as just mascara. You also should make sure to have water with you to keep hydrated.

Looking good in the rain

After taking a trip to the grocery store and returning soaking wet from torrential downpour, I realized that people need some help getting dressed for the rain. I understand that you may not want to ruin your clothes and you think that the rain makes you invisible to the public, but we can all see you still.

Tips for being chic in the rain:

1. Well-tailored trench coat
2. Be creative with rain boots without regressing to childhood.
3. Wear tights with a tunic or a cute skirt. Stay away from long pants that will get soaked and ruin the rest of your day.
3. Pay attention to material. Stay away from suede and jeans (i.e: shoes, bags, pants)

So remember, rain can't hurt you and use this weather as an excuse to get creative with your outfit.

Trends to Avoid

While I'm all about being positive and want to make sure you all know what to do and love, it's sometimes important to stop and think about what to AVOID! There's a thin line in the fashion world with being creative and innovative, but sometimes it's just not right. Here are some trends to AVOID...

1.Double denim..no reason to dress in denim from head to toe.

2.Mixing too much..while patterns and floral are a big trend for the spring, some designers get a little carried away and you need to be careful you don't look like an out of style sofa cover.

3. Going to sleep look...I understand that big tops and sweaters are a trend favorite, but it's important not to wear everything baggy. Try your over-sized sweater with skinny jeans or even a skinny belt.

Remember: Just because you see a celebrity wearing something doesn't mean it is a trend to follow.
